love longing & love lost, the photographic work of Lee Jung

I recently came across the fine art light installation works of Seoul born artist Lee Jung, and was instantly pulled in to her hauntingly beautiful, text based light installations. Jung mixes her stunning images of landscapes and nature with poignant light installations, which feature messages of longing and love intertwined into the landscape. Jung is quite the accomplished student, boasting various degrees from all over the world - including an MA in Photography from the Royal College of Art, a BA in Photography from the Kent institute of Art and a BA in Mass Communication and Journalism from Kyung Hee University, Seoul, Korea.

Her work is somewhat reminiscent of the infamous text/light installation work known of Tracey Emin, however the messages communicated in her work or somewhat different, less controversial and more indicative of a craving for togetherness. The juxtaposition of the bright neon text, similar to signs seen often in city-scapes, applied in the natural landscape is quite powerful. Her landscapes also remain somewhat mysterious, dark and slightly foreboding, which furthers the pang of love longing and love lost through out her pieces. The text always remains ambivalent, making it easily relatable to the viewer, and forever poignant - in all its luminosity.

Our personal favourite below, 'You Belong To Me, I Belong To You, Only God Knows.'  Which instantly reminds us of 'God Only Knows ' by The Beach Boys, leaving the ringing of the song in our ears.
